Strategic Planning Manager (circulation marketing reporting and data analysis)
An international publishing and conferences group is looking for a regional, strategic planning and data analysis professional responsible for providing all ongoing circulation marketing reporting, forecasting and analyses for both subscription and trade circulation required for the Circulation and Group Marketing Director, the Managing Director of Circulation, the Publisher, and Finance.
Description :
You will manage cost and revenue data to provide monthly circulation marketing forecasts and will play an integral role in preparing budget submission and scenarios for the Asia Pacific region.
Key Accountabilities
• Supply monthly Activity Based Costing (ABC) estimates and monitor impact of marketing activity on ABC volume.
• Serve as internal expert and primary contact for circulation forecasting model, ensuring output is accurate.
• Manage communication of circulation volume and financial information with senior management, including the Marketing Directors/MD, Publisher, Ad Sales, and Finance.
• Responsible for all circulation reporting and analyses, including monthly forecast, ABC estimate, circulation expenses, weekly circulation subscriptions and weekly circulation volume estimates.
• Provide insights into internal and competitive data trends to inform business decisions
• Manage the circulation levels, including analysis, reforecasting, and communication of findings (both financial and volume composition), which requires collaborative relationships with circulation marketers to understand the sources & dynamics of subscription and single copy levels.
• Manage the annual budget process, including managing the calendar, deliverables, creating all templates and reports and presentation to senior management.
To meet the challenge, you should have the following profile:
1. Education and training:
BA/BS required
2. Previous work experience:
3-5 years experience in media finance, circulation marketing and/or financial or data analytics.
3. Knowledge
• Experience in and comfort level with manipulating large data sets, interpreting data trends and using a multitude of disparate data sources and tools.
• Knowledge of and some practical experience with financial reporting.
• Excellent English and Chinese communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.
• Exposure and understanding of data analysis, CRM, lifetime value and retention analyses, and segmentation analysis.
4. IT
• Strong Excel skills a must.
• Circulation forecasting skills.
• Extensive hands-on interaction with computer systems and database application and analytical tools.
5. Personal attributes and skills
• Must be confident and articulate, with ability to present analytics and reports in a clear, effective and dynamic manner to senior management as needed.
• Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to effectively manage projects supporting multiple stakeholders.
• Strong analytical ability, critical thinking and proactive problem solving skills.
• Must be a self-starter, able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must be accountable and willing to own all aspects of circulation data.
